Apple Paid $1 Billion By Google For Default Search Status

Apple Paid $1 Billion By Google For Default Search Status

By Richard Saintvilus | Updated January 25, 2016
Like taking candy from a baby? Not exactly. But investors of Apple, Inc. (AAPL) shouldn't complain that the tech giant gets $1 billion from its hated rival for essentially being a toll collector. You read that correctly. And while shares of the tech giant have been under pressure since the start of the year, falling 5% thanks to analysts' reduced estimates, this recent development affirm additional strength of the iPhone. Google Paying the Piper Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) is paying the iPhone maker a hefty ransom just for allowing Google's search bar to remain on the iPhone. And here we were thinking over the past couple of weeks that the iPhone had become Apple's weakest link. Does this change things? It should. While citing court transcripts detailing copyright litigation against Google by Oracle Corp (ORCL), Bloomberg on Thursday reported that Apple received $1 billio…

payments with your Ford Car

Image
Soon you will be able to make payments with your Ford Car 20 Jan 16 | Author | Let’s face it, we knew that the moment Samsung and MasterCard partnered to create a fridge that makes payments that all hell would break loose. So it’s not surprising that a couple of weeks on an automotive company has integrated payments into their products. After all, we’re upgrading our public transport networks’ payment infrastructures so why wouldn’t we want to upgrade our private transport’s payment capabilities?
The car manufacturing giant Ford is introducing this year something called Ford Pass, which it describes nebulously as “a platform that reimagines the relationship between automaker and consumer. FordPass aims to do for car owners what iTunes did for music fans”.

Whilst that is not exactly the most apposite description, the focus of Ford Pass is mobility.
“FordPass members can talk to personal mobility assistants – FordGuides – night or day to help resolve their mobility challeng…

Economics of Owning a Bar

Economics of Owning a Bar By Evan Tarver | January 12, 2016 The bar, tavern and nightclub industry in the United States is expected to have total revenues greater than $24 billion in 2015. Of the total sales, 42% is made up of beer, 31% is made up of distilled beverages, and the remaining 27% is made up of food and other sales. The average revenue per employee for a bar establishment is roughly $64, making it an attractive business for an entrepreneur. However, there are over 65,000 bar and bar-like establishments in the U.S. alone. This means there is high saturation in the industry, making it challenging to own a successful bar. Still, it is important to understand the economics of owning a bar to assess whether ownership is the correct decision. Costs Startup costs are the first major hurdle to bar ownership. Total startup costs for a bar that rents or leases its location are estimated to be between $110,000 and $550,000, depending on size. A bar that purchases its location and pa…

Kerv founder, Phil Campbell

Kerv founder, Phil Campbell, talks about his company’s contactless ring, Apple Watch and Kickstarter
06 Jan 16 | Author  My interview with Phil Campbell, the founder of Kerv, the contactless payment ring that made waves on Kickstarter at the end of last year, was interrupted almost straight away because in demonstrating how the ring works, he attracted the attention of several people who all wanted to see how a man could pay for a couple of black coffees by gently tapping his fist on a contactless terminal.

When they saw Phil was paying with a ring, they were very interested in the concept. In fact, the reaction was so positive I couldn’t help but notice that it was wholly different to the reaction the big wearables of 2015 received.
Why was the reaction so lukewarm towards the big brands’ devices that offered everything from heart rate analysis to contactless payments, but more positive to a simple ring that, according to Phil, probably wouldn’t have ever gone ahead if …

Rumors Swirl Regarding Apple’s iPhone 7 Speculation Over Possibility of Waterproof Device By in Breaking NewsTechnology
Just as rumors have started swirling about the next Samsung line of Galaxy phones, Apple is now in the spotlight with reports over mysterious compounds and new models.
Numerous agencies have been reporting on the next iPhone with most stories pointing to a new compound that will be used in the production to create a waterproof iPhone. The idea of a waterproof iPhone isn’t a new one but it appears, this time, it could be more than just a rumor.
Apple Insider reported Catcher Technologies is expected to supply about 35 percent of the chasis compounds for the iPhone 7 which will include a sealant and gaskets to provide protection for the device’s antenna. This would lend itself to a waterproof device.
While Apple Insider was suggesting Apple may be rolling out the iPhone 7 prior to the traditional September reveal, The Daily Mail reported Apple will remai…

Rising PayPal Alternatives to Consider
By  in BusinessEcommerceTechnology
Photo Credit: 401(K) 2012 via flickr http://x.translateth.is/translate-this.js// In July 2015, PayPal rose to total independence by spinning away from eBay. It has become a standalone company with a larger value then its former parent, and a leading online payment system in the world. It was founded in December 1998, and counts around 173 million users today. However, Paypal has millions of unsatisfied customers, also.
One of the biggest criticisms is that it acts like a bank, but is not regulated like one. That lack of security turns some people away from providing their credit and debit card numbers to PayPal. Luckily for them, there are other great online systems for money transaction on the rise that people find safer, more practical and quite affordable. These Paypal alternatives make it easy to send and receive money from anyone across the globe.
